So we had one of the old gas fires in the kitchen and shamefully it was capped. We didn't want the headache of another gas fire. Let me clarify, when I say headache, it was due to shoddy chimney cleaners yanking the fire out, tossing it about and making a lovely fire all dented and scratched. Every year we had this problem and anxiety. So we got the old fire plastered up and went onto the route of a electric fire. Main thing was the remote and the flashy LED lights also. I had an eye for the smaller curved front and decided to opt for this model, 90cm wide flat fire than the smaller curved option, plus it was the 2019 model and not lasts years. Came nicely packed and secure. Honestly it was simple to put up. Find the middle center of your wall and mark the brackets center also. Check the wall with a stud/metal and electric wire finder. Get a quick spirit level, little magnet one does wonders. Jot the holes with a pen, I just used a purple fine liner, it was the closest thing and the cat stole the pencil. Glass easily comes off and you can swap the fire designs and easily add your own if you find suitable replacements. Used my Ryobi with number 6 drill and away I went. Five holes, I also added some gorrilla glue for some extra peace of mind. Controls nicely and the time and date is a nice touch, but useless for me as I switch the fire off when I'm finished using it, so it resets. Heat at both settings does keep my kitchen warm and cosy and after cooking the kitchen is the place to be in the cold. My only gripe would be that you need the remote at all times to turn on the heat past a certain level. Even in this summer season, I've had a few cold days and couldn't get the heat on without turning up the heat settings past the room temperature. My landing fire just works straight off the bat as soon as you flip the switch, poor design and if you lose the remote I've found that you can't turn the heat on at all until the room tempature drops to a certain level. But for the price, it is a bargain. you can easily find this £160+ on other sites so if you are on the fence, I'd jump off and snap it up and keep an eye on your remote.Read full review
