Lana makes a break from Clark in their relationship and Lex begins to explore his darker side. Enjoyed all the episodes some more than others but all were good.

When the dvd played smoothly it was very entertaining and creative. This product was supposed to be new "factory wrapped" but first disc started on third episode and there were glitches throughout plus third disc never played. My Dvd player works fine too!

Season 5 has many changes and it is hard to comment on the seasons without ruining it for those who have not seen it yet. Themes of loyalty and betrayal prevail. As clark, Lois, and chloe enter college and a new phase of life they must make harder decisions. Lex continues to make choices that seperates him from his humanity and friendship with Clark. Clark continues to push away Lex and Lana, even though at times it seems he will reconcile with them. Lois continues to be flip, curt and annoying. It is interesting that not only Clark but most of the main characters seemed doomed to have no sex life.Overall it was a great season and for those who have not seen it I consider you do because there was just so much packed in this season. Generally this season is darker and less hopefull then prior seasons. Below are the episodes 1.Hidden 2.Aqua 3.Thrist 4.Exposed 5.Splinter 6.Solitude 7.Lexmas 8.Fanatic 9.Lockdown 10.Reckoning 11.Vengeance 12.Tomb 13.Cyborg 14.Hypnotic 15.Void 16. Fragile 17. Smallville, season 5 continues the story of young Clark Kent. In this season, you learn more of Clark's planet, past and meet a series of diferent charecters. There is a better charecter developement for Lois, Lana, Chloe, and Clark. You meet up with Brainiac and Cyborg, two of DC's Mainstream charecters. Also each episode continues with the trials and tribulations of Clark, trying to do what's right, hiding what he can do, protecting the innocent, finding out his place in this world, and going head to head with his future destiny! Overall this season was GREAT! I enjoyed the action, complex loves, and the suspence!
After a heated bidding war in the seeming never ending quest, I finally won my copy of Smallville Season Five. Finally I had won an auction for Season Five and I sat back and duly awaited its arrival…. Eagerly waited. Okay I was antsy as my twelve year old. Seasons One thru Four had been devoured like cheesecake on a buffet table. On a night with poor viewing options my wife and I would claim that we would watch one episode. Three episodes later and without regard to what time it was or when we had to get up in the morning we delved into the last episode on the disk. I have to say Season Five is as addicting and as well written as the others. Being a huge Superman fan I am happy to see how hard the writers work to create challenging stories, to develop characters who you love, characters whom you hate and ones that can got from love to hate with a mere glance and back again, although some of this is by the talents of the cast. The writers have stayed true to the mythos of Superman, but have allowed themselves to wander on the what if path. The writers have done a wonderful job laying the back ground work to build to certain miles stones in the Superman saga, (Embracing the Krytonia heratige, creation of the Fotress of Solitude, Battle with General Zod, the villification of Lex Luthor). My wife and I also enjoy seeing who spots the the references to Superman and when he is in the Superman colors. (when Lois wraped an amnisis(sp) Clark Kent in a red blanket.) Season Five has picked up right were Season Four left off. The story lines are well thought out and have an underlying threads with come about as the season rips along. Each episode leaves us wanting another and propells us to watch yet another story. While we have been more disiplined about spreading these episodes out, it has not been easy. I look forward to Season Six becoming available as well as to see what Seaon Seven has instore for us.Read full review
It’s even better than the first four seasons because everything starts to fall in place with the characters I don’t care much for Clark being able to run real fast Why can’t he fly? I figured it’s because he never does what he is supposed to do by following his destiny

So much changes in the fifth season of Smallville that it is hard to comment on aspects of the season without spoiling it for those who have not seen it yet. However, in the most general terms, Smallville continues as one of the most interesting fantasy shows on television. A new character played by James Marsters of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fame joins the cast. He plays a professor at the college that Clark attends. Of course, no one is who they appear to be in this tale. Themes of loyalty and betrayal prevail. As Clark, Lois and Chloe enter college and a new phase of life they must make harder decisions. Lex continues to make choices that will separate him from his humanity and his friendship with Clark Kent. Clark continues to push away Lex and Lana, even though at times it seems he will reconcile with them. Lois continues to be flip, curt and annoying. It is interesting that not only Clark but most of the main characters seemed doomed to have no sex life--as if the assumed celibacy of this superhero is infectious somehow. In general the season is darker and less hopeful than prior seasons. Despite this it continues to fascinate and enthrall.Read full review
To start out with, the fifth season of SMALLVILLE does satisfyingly resolve the fourth season's cliffhanger and from there, it's a rather very enjoyable despite some lackluster but interesting episodes. The special effects are great, there's more fun in the stories and on a sad note, John Schneider bows out of the series here as Jonathan Kent in the 100th episode, Reckoning. Overall, if you liked the fourth season, you'll definitely enjoy this; if you're not a fan, you might wanna give this a chance - if not, oh well. I give SMALLVILLE: Season 5 a B+ as a grade!
There is really no easy way for a newbie to jump in and enjoy the show, as none of these episodes really make much sense. Which is a shame, as the studio had a real opportunity to reel in some early adopters who might have previously missed the show. What they are instead doing this season, though, is making the situations more provocative and sexual, not something that we need in a show that is supposed to follow the lives of wholesome Kent family. Having superman characters mixing up with witchcraft dose not appear to be a brilliant move, not to mention the involvement of previous life, jinx or spells, all these elements The witchcraft episodes I will not allow my children nor I to watch. We don’t need are children to sponge up this mess for the rest of there life.
