Far superior device compared to Garmin. Easier and more reliable in every way with better features. Down side is the screen is quite small. Why? Also there is currently an issue with the Bluetooth. It’s working but I had trouble connecting it to both my phone and my sena headset. The sound quality is suspect too. Tomtom are working on a fix. Once done this will be five stars for me.

So annoying to use no common sense at all. And using daft touch icons with dots and daces instead of word explaining what the icon stands for .Smaller screen that you expect big thick 1/2 inch black border shrinking the screen , you need a magnifying glass to read many words or icons. it tries to do to much so does nothing very well. you find yourself constantly fighting with it and growling. However if you stick to the basics and just want find your way home or so you may be alright but even then it gets lost GRRRR

I bought this TomTom Rider 550 to replace an old TomTom Rider 2. The Rider 550 is a great improvement on earlier models and the facility to update the software via WiFi is a welcome addition. I'm still having problems getting a reliable link to my helmet's Bluetooth headset, but I suspect that the problem lies with the headset rather than the SatNav. The ability to flip instantly between landscape and portrait view is a useful new feature. I bought a 3rd-party sun-shield for the Rider 550 but, frankly, it isn't a great fit, so I will probably fashion one myself out of Correx, like I did with my Rider 2 unit.

Purchased to replace an older Rider I had as this gives real time traffic which the predesessor didn't. Smaller screen which although clear does need an add on visor to be able to see clearly in the sun plus has a changed power input connector for the old Riders meaning that you have to change the power cable - annoying as I used the old unit on two bikes so will now have to buy another power cable and install it. Still early days but apart from the above its a good unit

I quite like the new version, but I would rather have the original rider as it was all set up on my trike and I can no longer use the the lock I bought for it which cost me £60. So I am not to happy with tomtom.

Great piece of kit, with Bluetooth calling and message reading. It's easy to use and has lifetime map's. The only down side is probably that because it's so expensive it really should come with it's locking security bracket as standard as opposed to purchasing separately for £49.50. Other than that, great

This is the second Tom Tom I have purchased this one solely for the bike, tom Tom have issued an update to their drive app and it doesn't work with Windows 7 up their software forces you to update and then crashes this they don't seem to care about so no rout planning can take place rendering the devices useless,Tom Tom know about this and are blaming people's hardware thousands of people have posted about this and nothing done shame on you Tom Tom won't be purchasing anymore of your products

I’m impressed! Purchased a couple of weeks ago the Tom Tom Rider 550 is as easy to use, plan routes, update software as any Sat Nav I’ve ever had, I love it

No big issues initially setting the tom tom up from new, but really difficult to pair up my G4 scala headsets, they did eventually pair, but every time you switch the units off, you have to re-pair them again, which is very annoying, overall, brilliant.
