    Hamlet

    I bought this movie because I had a test for my College Drama class (I made an A). Mel Gibson is a fabulous Hamlet. I do recommend that those who aren't familiar with this play (or the Old English language that is used)at least read the cliff notes (or Google Hamlet) before watching the movie to have an idea of the story-line and also who the characters are in relation to one another. I had to watch it twice. I gathered the general storyline and plot the first time, and the details necessary to pass the test the second (i.e. I didn't realize at first that Hamlet was feigning madness). Also, The High Comedy Humor of the gravedigger is not to be missed. :) For those of you who aren't into Old English plays, this is not a must see. My husband and teenage son had trouble watching this and ...

    Hamlet

    This movie is a must see for any Gibson fan. I loved the scenery and the very palatable telling of Shakespeare's most famous play. Glen Close as Hamlet's mother is straight-on. Helena Bonham-Carters role as Ophelia was tragically superb! The more you watch, the more you understand.

    Mel Gibson as Hamlet

    Definitely the best Mel Gibson movie I've ever seen. Gritty and realistic, with superb attention to detail--right down to the dirt under his fingernails. Franco Zeffirelli is an absolute MASTER!
