    The Ring, The Ring!

    What an opportunity I had to buy these three classics. I must have watched the animated Lord of The Rings, about 5,000 times, but I never tire of it. Ralph Bakshi is a genius, and a rare interview is included in this series. The remastered version is more colorful than my earlier widescreen version. I leaped at this chance to buy all three (the Lord, the Hobbit, The Return of the King). I could not wait for the movie to come out in 1978. I think there was a strong outcry to re-release these timeless classics. These films are masterpieces of its day, not like the garbage they put out nowadays. I purchased Bakshi's Fire and Ice, and can't wait to sit down and watch the master of animation, work his magic again! Well, I just watched Fire and Ice and it is a masterpiece.     Not All are Rankin/Bass

    This is not in any way the sellers fault. Growing up I loved the 1977 Hobbit. I loved the 1980 Return of The King. Both Rankin Bass productions. I had not remembered there even was a Lord of The Rings made back then. I was excited to discover this trilogy! So... The Lord of The Rings was in my opinion total trash. Bizarre blend of live action/actors touched up with animation.. interacting with wholly animated characters. Not what I expected. I would never have paid the price for all three. Had I known I would simply have bought the two Rankin Bass, saved the money and been Soooo much happier!!!!

    The Animated Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Movies

    Before there was Peter Jackson's Trilogy, the original Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies were animated. These movies are a real treat for Lord of the Rings fans or Animation fans, it's a must get.

    I have the original videotape of the Hobbit. I've noticed that a lot of the sound effects that made the video really good is not on the dvd. Other than that it's okay.
