In this eight-episode BBC production, Jones examines common characters from the Middle Ages, throwing new light on dusty old stereotypes. Like many of Jones's previous programs, MEDIEVAL LIVES exposes long-running assumptions regarding the past, among them, how damsels could be far from dainty and why knights weren't always heroic.     Funny and Informative

    As a history buff, I can appreciate the way that Terry Jones's historical docu-comedies make history fun and fascinating. Of course, at only 30 or so minutes per section, you're not going to get an in depth look at any one subject, but that's what libraries are for. Jones gives you a taste of each subject in a way that is palatable to today's audience, and if he makes you want to actually read about Margery Kemp (as I have), then he has done us all a great favor in doing so. I highly recommend this product for anyone getting into medieval history, and also for Monty Python fans as well.

    Disc 1 doesn't play at all - it is dark. Disc 2 is quite excellent but I have no idea what was supposed to be on the first disc and this is way too much money for just one disc
