    I prefer this mix of the Woodstock performance

    Terrific 2-CD edition of Santana's debut album. What makes it worthwhile for me is the second disc, containing the original sessions for the album (recorded in January 1969) and the (almost) complete Woodstock performance. I find these early versions of "Shades of time" and "Persuasion" quite interesting. About the Woodstock material, I prefer this audio mix to the one from the Woodstock Experience set released a few years after this one (2009); I think that it has more punch, plus it has the stage announcements for "Soul sacrifice" add "Fried neck bones", which I feel add to the complete concert experience. Also, the liner notes give some good insight on the making of the album. Buy it!

    I had this 40+ years ago and did not remember how good it was! The other studio cuts and live songs are great. Fried neckbones & home fries, righteous!

    I bought this for the bonus CD, to have the Woodstock performance of Soul Sacrifice. It’s incredible, along with several other versions of the song. Love this set! Can’t stop listening!

    My 1st copy was an 8-track cassette!

    In high sckrool, I think I was one of the 1st to get Santana's debut album, it spread like a wildfire along with the other "greats", from that period like Hendrix, Tull, Sons of Champlain/Chicago, QMS, Elvin Bishop, John Mayall, Cold Blood, I could go on and on, but you get the point. I was very much into music then, even put on a few concerts with some of the above artists and others, before they became to expensive to hire. Of course I've had to replace most all my music to "little cassettes" then CD's and always had vinyl too. Onto the subject at hand. This is probably their best, as a money-maker for them. You get the original album, plus a few "jams/outtakes" and on the 2nd disc, some early live versions, like Woodstock and some more studio versions of disc 1, plus tunes you most ...
