    Fixed copper teapot

    My wife bought an old copper teapot. It leaked at the bottom seam where the side meets the bottom. It didn't leak when cold- only when you heated it up. You could see where it leaked by the dried water deposits- on the outside and inside of the teapot. I cleaned up those surfaces with a dremel tool and sandpaper. Then I applied the JB Weld HighHeat putty to the leaky areas and after it dried the leak was gone. It wasn't as easy to apply as I first thought since it wanted to stick to my fingers more than the teapot metal. But I found if I applied more pressure and squeezed it outwards until it thinned out against the metal instead of trying to lift my finger upwards that I was able to get it to stick to the metal nicely.     It's one of those items that is hit or miss depending on the car's set up and condition. It only worked for a few hours before it broke in my case, though it might work well for you. It would have been better if I'd just bought the replacement muffler parts first instead of trying to glue it back together.
