Perfect for Early 2011 MBP 17”
Wanted it for handoff/continuity features minus the “unlock with Apple Watch” feature (you need an 802.11AC card that has been specially adapted to plug in via this old connector and only one is made for $150) Not worth the extra $110 for a single feature. Continuity/handoff works perfectly after installing this and using the tool continuity activation tool. AirDrop 2. Yay. Talks to my phone now. Yay. bluetooth works, airdropping between 2011 macbook and iphone X doesn't.
While the bluetooth works fine, I'm sure, but after trying now off and on for a year, it can't make an Early 2011 Macbook Pro 13" to work with airdrop between iphone and the macbook. Apparently it can only airdrop with other macbooks. Not much use for me. Tried various fixes and suggestions from people, but they all seem to lead to the same result: You'll need a 2012 or newer macbook to have it airdrop with an iphone.While the bluetooth works fine, I'm sure, but after trying now off and on for a year, it can't make an Early 2011 Macbook Pro 13" to work with airdrop between iphone and the macbook. Apparently it can only airdrop with other macbooks. Not much use for me. Perfect item to upgrade older Macbook Pro device with Airdrop and Handoff
Was a great piece of technology to add to my 2011 17" Macbook Pro and I can now use Airdrop to transfer files back and forth between iPhone and MacBook Pro. This was perfect for me since I was missing the ability to quickly share pictures back and forth to iPhone devices.
