Mistakenly ordered a paperback that I thought was a hardcover, not sellers fault; it was described properly on the listing. Seller still processed a refund the day I went to return the item and let me keep the item anyway. A+++ service. Book arrived quickly in great condition and for a great price. Thank you so much! Amazing seller!

seller was communicative about my shipment, media mail took a while and tracking wasn't updated frequently, but seller communicated to me very quickly on status. the item came new and wrapped as described, though the packaging in it was packed wasn't sturdy and falling apart when it got to me.

  • An Amazing Door Opening on My Ancestry as a Hairston, Grandmother Hairston Pictured here

This Book Chronicles My Ancestry, and has brought me to amazing insights and healing. I have great respect for Henry Wiencek, who devoted 8 years of his life to building trust and learning the details of my family. I have been doing reconciliation work, visiting the Cooleemee Plantation, singing in the fields and weeping for all who suffered and endured slavery. I am slowly making my way toward connecting with other Hairstons, and I return to these pages to refresh my memory, on how to stand in harmony and balance, in the face of having been the largest slave-holders in America. The book is very well written, and it is my sincere hope to meet and thank the author in person one day.

  • Wiensek's Home Run

Using the stories of two families Wiensek accentuates the realities U.S. history, the lives of people "on the ground." One of the most heartbreaking tales was of the county school board's attempt to close an almost-new school only because it was in a black neighborhood! And the board members knew that school was the center of community life and pride.
