I bought the disc version of Turbotax so that I could do my taxes on my own computer without having to connect to the internet. I understood that I would have to print the completed forms and then mail them in. But my goal was to not have to connect to the internet. I loaded the disc, ran the program, and entered the information. When trying to execute the program it wrote "Do not file" on each of the tax forms. The program said I had to get updates (via the internet) . This was exactly what I did not want to do. The software is useless if you don't connect to the internet. It I wanted to connect to the internet, I could have purchased a downloadable version for less money and gotten the same results. I give this a 1 star because if forces you to connect to the internet.

Because of the frequent changes in the tax laws, for several years now I have no longer been able to do my taxes manually, but have come to rely on TurboTax to help me do the job. Comments: Good value if you can afford to wait until after the filing date, when prices for this otherwise expensive program drop radically. Easy to install and get the necessary updates on the tax laws which change so frequently even TurboTax cannot produce an up-to-date version on release of the software. Easy to use, EXCEPT it is obviously not intended primarily for overseas filers based on the fact thtat obtaining the overseas income deduction is far from obvious, this in spite of my several letters over the years trying to explain our difficulties and pleading for easing this procedure.

I love Turbotax. I have used it as an accountant for many years. I don't use it for client's taxes, but I always use it for my own taxes. It is the best PERSONAL USE tax software available for 95%+ of the population in my opinion. It asks you all the appropriate questions and then puts all the corresponding numbers on the right forms. Gets your taxes done cheaply, correctly and quickly. For businesses, I would only suggest it if you consider yourself sophisticated in taxes.

I feel I was tricked into buying audit protection. I am pretty sure I checked the option not to buy audit protection. At the end of the process I had to pay the $19.99 for the State and $39.99 for the audit protection. I then could not figure out how to remove that option. I feel I paid twice for the Turbo Tax Deluxe. Therefore not a good value.
