Hycote Matt black spray paint has to be the best matt black paint I have ever used. I used it on two jobs, the first to paint a fabricated steel weather vane, the second to paint a vintage cast aluminium wall lantern. Both jobs were thoroughly prepared and painted first with appropriate Hycote primers. The spray cans are easy to use with the nozzle giving a good fan of paint. The paint covers well and builds up in successive coats in to a very high quality finish. I had no problems with any runs or uneven spatter. When fully dry the paint gives a fantastic finish. To top it off I also used Hycote matt lacquer.

This is a review of the paint, not the seller. I bought this paint to use on plastic. I made sure the item was clean and before using the paint I used 1000 sand paper and the cleaned the item to give the paint a key. I also used a can of Hycote clear aid adhesion. This was allowed to dry for 20 minutes between 2 coats. Thinking I had done everything correct I gave the paint a good 5 to 10 minute shake and proceeded to spray very light coats with a 5 minute gap (it was a very hot day). it soon became apparent that the paint was not going on smoothly and I was getting blotches of paint. This piece of plastic was oil free, so I stopped and rang Hycote and was promised a call back which never came. I cannot recommend this product for use on anything plastic. I will finally add that the item being sprayed was done so laying horizontal, so I never had a paint run.Read full review

An excellent paint which is easy to apply and which dries with a nice even finish. Used to finish satin black panels in my classic car, very please and would certainly use again.

A reasonably priced gloss black paint in a large 400ml aerosol. It covers well and dries quickly although in a cold garage in winter I use the heat from an electric paint stripper to dry it otherwise it will dry matt. (the recommended temperature is 15 to 25 deg C for best results so generally too cold in the winter months. The paint can be removed with cellulose thinners if required. All in all a good paint worth buying.

I always get great results from this primer. To tip, warm the can in a bowl of hot water for 10 mins for optimum spray performance.
