Seller shipped anyway, which is an honest mistake, Possibly. Seller, without making sure he was correct. Denies, wastes time going back and forth in messages, finally acknowledging he was wrong the entire time. Ebay sent a cancellation request, which is sent as a message from ebay, not as a message from the buyer. So we have not seen any message from the buyer regarding cancellation.
