"Brilliant and hugely ambitious...Some will argue that a book so difficult and sad may not be appropriate for teenage readers...Adults will probably like it (this one did), but it's a great young-adult novel...It's the kind of book that can be life-changing, because without ever denying the essential amorality and randomness of the natural order, "The Book Thief" offers us a believable hard-won hope...The hope we see in Liesel is unassailable, the kind you can hang on to in the midst of poverty and war and violence. A Masterpiece

A beautifully written novel. Very real characters, absorbing, the pages filled with a full spectrum of human emotions. It touched me deeply, as heartfelt as “Cafe Francaise”, (the latter all the more poignant, because it’s author, who ceaselessly toiled through her handwritten manuscript, was taken away to die in a concentration camp before its completion). Thank you, Mr Zusak, for a very fine read.

    • The best book I have ever read (out of 4,500+)!!!

This is a "heart-growing" book. Mr. Zusak has a way with story telling, and it REALLY comes out in this opus. He builds characters as well as Steinbeck (I have NEVER said that before). The story carries a message we ALL need to hear and, while I wept at the end (I am a Six foot one inch 230 pound man), it was still a very positive book as it taught me so much. I am often asked what to read as I am a Book Seller/Collector and obviously a huge book lover, and I always recommend this book first. Don't get me wrong, there are MANY GREAT books, but this is the "To Kill a Mockingbird" of the 21st century. I buy all the First Editions I can as I KNOW it will be worth thousands someday soon.

    • There are two pictures with the listing, but to idio-ticrex credit, they're pictures of the actual book for sale, not a standard, pristine new book.

There are two pictures with the listing, but to idio-ticrex credit, they're pictures of the actual book for sale, not a standard, pristine new book. Two points for that alone! The description is correct ("very good"), the price very good and well wrapped for shipment. I've bought from other sellers from Peyton CO over the years, all perfect. I think I've now gotten to the point where a tie listing will go to the one from Peyton! Thanks much idio-ticrex!

    • Completely new way to tell a story 'about' WWII

Every time I read this, I discover a hidden detail in the architecture of this book. Writing style is so engrossing.
