Of course every film produced goes through an intensive series of cuts before finally emerging as the finished product you see on the movie screen. That's to be expected. But what really bugs me is when the producers of a film then go ahead and make further alterations to their finished product before releasing it on DVD. Apparently the interrum between theatre release and mass DVD marketing gives them the opportunity to reflect on their work and screw with it just one last time. The result: the DVD you buy at Wal-Mart or Best-Buy is typically not the same movie anymore. And always the changes are for the worse. Such is the case with "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America". In particular, they've whittled away at Beavis' hallucinogenic visions in the Arizona desert. When I first saw the film, there was an awesome cool peyote-induced sequence of storm clouds and Hopi Indian gods dancing in the sky. I guess one or two people (probably white Liberals) complained that the sequence demeaned Native Americans in some way, and so Mike Judge and his advisors left that part on the cutting room floor. Too bad. The result is crap. What's more, that particular sequence was the main reason I bought the DVD in the first place! Thanks a lot meddlesome movie morons!Read full review
While this movie isn't exactly Oscar material, it was a great representation of a decade that changed the way we saw cartoons on basic cable. Beavis and Butthead are dumb, silly, and just plain crude. They are two teenagers without a clue that made a serious impact on a generation for which they ultimately stood for. Now in the days of 'Family Guy" cartoons are expected to be a certain way when appealing to adults, Beavis and Butthead captured a youth culture and forever immortalized it in time with insane escapades and pop culture references alike. If you remember the 90's and want to show someone a marker for MTV that still included music, look no further than Beavis and Butthead Do America.
Great product will enjoy for years to come tape was packaged nicely and plays like new. Thanks!
