Henry Moon! What a guy!
Jack Nicholson! Jack Nicholson! Jack Nicholson! Do I have to say it again? This is the first movie that Jack Nicholson directed on his own. Somehow it was a complete box office failure. It is no doubt one of my favorite movies of all time. Extremely underrated. Nicholson plays An Confederate Veteran who has become an outlaw to survive because there isn't any work. His character's name is Henry Moon. One day Moon got caught stealing some horses and was sentenced to hang but the town he was arrested in had an ordinance that would allow him to be saved if an unmarried woman or widow that owned land would marry him. She would be the boss. Henry Moon gets himself in the so much trouble but I have never seen Jack Nicholson play a character so well and that's much easier said than done. The movie takes place in the mid 1800s when the Gold Rush was happening out west. Not only is Jack Nicholson's character Henry Moon so incredibly charmingly offbeat funny there are some other major Stars that appear in this film as well. Christopher Lloyd, John Belushi and Mary Stephen Berg's first major film role. It's funny and it's a delight. The movie is on a DVD and the DVD was in excellent shape and I'm glad that I bought it because all I had originally was the VHS tape.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
