Nick and Nora Charles are the main characters that go around solving seemingly unsolvable murders and other crimes. Nick Charles is a former police detective while his wife Nora is a socialite with a quick mind. They are both quick witted and good at solving the supposedly unsolvable cases. They don't shy away from danger or high class parties. "The Thin Man Collection stars William Powell and Myrna Loy as the lead characters. Other actors that showed up in the movies include a young James Stewart and Dean Stockwell as a child. This seven-disc set includes all six mystery movies, such as the original "Thin Man," "Shadow of the Thin Man," and "The Thin Man Goes Home." "The Thin Man Collection" also has some special features, including a bonus documentary disc, a trailer gallery, comedy shorts, and classic cartoons.

    Great Old Movie Series

    I first saw The Thin Man when I was a kid and was an instant fan. Old movies were part of my growing up as my parents were always trying to expose us kids to them; from seeing Gone With The Wind at the theater before it was ever aired on TV to all the old movies shown on TV. I first bought the Thin Man collection on Laserdisc several years ago and this was OK but I decided to pick up the DVD for better viewing and am very happy with it. I like the extras, trailers, shorts and cartoons. The bonus disc has 2 very nice documentaries and a episode from the 1950s TV series. I was disappointed by the LUX radio show though as it is a very bad muffled copy, but that is minor anyway. The transfers of the films are excellent, a keeper. This set seems to be out of print so expect to pay a little more ...

    OK, so far.....

    I have only had a chance to watch 4 of the 7 DVDs. Two of the 4 had sound problems. One DVD it was for several seconds in the middle of the movie. The other DVD, problem started in middle and pretty much was problem until the end. I did clean both DVDs, & also the DVD player.

    Fine Films

    The Thin Man series of films are from "old Hollywood" with two of the most famous actors of the time. William Powell and Myrna Loy really are an acting team on screen and good friends in real life. Each of the films follows the same theme of a "retired private detective" and his quite wealthy wife who have a very entertaining dog. But, the get into all kinds of situations that involve solving murders. The humor along the way is icing on the cake. This films are are great and worth every penny and every minute watching.

    Hard to find-and worth the hunt!

    This is a great set of the Thin Man movies. I highly recommend it;but you'll probably need to buy it used. This set is hard to find and when you do find it,the prices asked can be expensive. I was lucky to get a great deal! I am happy to add this set to my collection. If you are fans of William Powell and Myrna Loy,you need to add this to YOUR collection!!
