The 3DS XL is a handheld video game system that delivers a portable gaming experience with iconic Nintendo characters. Play games featuring Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, and more. The 3DS console also supports Amiibo, which are toys-to-life figurines that can change your gameplay in many ways. The Black Edition units are black stand-alone consoles that flip open and closed. The Nintendo XL is a hinged device with a roomy 4.88-inch display screen, long battery life, and sturdy build. The battery life will vary per charge based on your screen brightness settings and how often you play games. Generally, it can last from three to five hours when playing Nintendo 3DS games and five to eight hours if you’re using it to play Nintendo DS games. This device also comes with parental controls so you can restrict 3D mode for children ages six and under. This handheld system also features faster processing power, which allows for quicker loading of apps and games. The physical retail games sold for the 3DS system are cartridges. Nintendo cards are very lightweight and measure about 3.5 centimeters by 3.3 centimeters. There’s a port for them at the back of the hardware. Just insert the cartridge until it clicks. With a wireless Internet connection, you can also connect to Nintendo’s digital storefront, which is called the Nintendo eShop, directly from your 3DS. This store lets you purchase software in digital rather than physical format. This unit does come with a 4GB SD card for storing your downloaded games. When you enable the Street Pass feature, your system can communicate with other Nintendo DS systems that you pass by and exchange information with them. A signature feature of the 3DS is its dual capacitive touchscreens. There’s even a built-in holder to hold the stylus when it isn’t needed. The physical controls are built in and located to each side of the screens. To charge the device, simply insert the charger into the unit and plug it into an electrical socket.

    The latch to hold down the ribbon cable snapped off when trying to replace the joystick. It needed to get replaced by soldering a new component onto the motherboard. Although it took a month, I got the console back and it looks and feels as good as new. The value is also worth it too, $40+$20 to replace the part. Highly recommend if you don’t mind waiting about at least a month to get your console back.

    Okay, my 3ds xl has been refurbished and came out awesome! I wanted the right side of the hinged fixed since I broke it and had the money prepared, so I contacted them. The seller asked what I need fixed with a friendly tone, even suggested switching out the loosed battery I had with a non loose one (which I did accept!) I wanted the hinged fixed and they did just that! And they somehow fixed the volume slider too! Thank you so much,man. 3 I can now play without worry. 3 much luck, from me

    I was initially nervous about sending my DS away to be fixed but it ended up going great! It took a little while but my console is fixed and works great now and the seller had great communication. I noticed my volume slider is a bit stiffer now but that’s more minor. Really just grateful to have my console fixed as I’ve had it for more than a decade. Would recommend!

    First time owning a NEW 3DS XL

    The last Nintendo handheld I own was a Gamboy Color back in 1998. I moved on with the Playstation and didn't continue with Nintendo's handhelds even since. I did loved the PSP which was a big thing in 2005 which I can listen to music and watch videos on the go before Smartphones. In that time period I never got a DS, DSi and 3DS since I thought the games from Nintendo are childish and not that hardcore enough but now that I am in my late 30s I want to revisit my childhood. I also heard the E-shop is closing so I might as well download as much of the virtual console games that I can download. I am shocked when I first got it how good the 3D is and it doesn't bother me that much. I did sticked an old 32gb micro SD card and all the big downloads I keep getting errors. That was my mistake ...

    A little sad.

    Got this Ds at a great price which I am thankful for, but the 11 games did not come with it but were pre-installed (not mentioned in bio) with the users ID so I cant reset anything or I lose the downloaded games. Ds also came pretty dirty. Very sad about not receiving the carterages. The system itself appears to be working fine.

    The "NEW" Nintendo 3DS XL gives you access to hours of entertainment. This device plays DS and 3Ds titles along with its digital Store where you can purchasse gameboy, nes and snes titles. It accepts micro flash cards so no worry about running out of storage space.The form factor has improved, less weight, sharper corners and a slimmed down case makes this system feel good in your hands. The gimmick of 3D isn't neccessary to have a good time, but I do prefer to have it, if only because of the leap forward in visual technology it provides. I switch it on from time to time, when I want a cool view of something in game, or when playing the AR games. The internet browser is lacking, it refuses to stream video, and the Youtube app was recently removed. However, Netflix is available for this ...

    Nintendo 3DS XL Enhanced

    A step forwards the original 3DS XL! The unit I got was sold for parts, but I write this review for the console as a product; the tracked 3D function allows the user to view the 3D effect at a much wider angle compared to its predecessor, a second set of bumpers and thumbstick enlarge the play possibilities and also has a somewhat sturdier build. One drawback for me is that it doesn't have extremely unique features compared to the not-New 3DS XL especially considering it's sadly part of a discontinued console family, making the 3DS XL still avantageous if new features and wider game catalogue are not on the table.

    New Nintendo 3DS: The Quintessential 3DS Handheld

    I have played one hour of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and almost an hour of Kid Icarus: Uprising on this 3DS. The games on this system have superior pixel density (pixels per inch) than my New 3DS XL. The graphics are just a little sharper on this 3DS, with the pixels being squeezed smaller due to the smaller screen. Truth be told, I bought this for that reason and it delivers. The system came earlier than expected and I am happy with my purchase. This system costed me $320 (more with shipping and tax) but I know I will get my money’s worth because of my long 3DS backlog. This is what I believe to be the quintessential 3DS system because of its smaller screen offering bigger pixel density/graphics, and its small size offering better portability.
