Reviews
The volume is amply illustrated with stills from the TV production as well as snippets of dialogue, but Gray's thoughtful and informed prose elevates it from mere tie-in to a truly useful work of culinary history, Nothing short of a bible for the serious fan, with every recipe mentioned in the show, plus dozens of others common for the period, sumptuously presented in spectacular fashion even the blessed Lady Mary would approve of, with gorgeous photos and context from author/food historian/show consultant Annie Gray, With both of these books in your hands, you'll be able to have a complete evening at Downton in your own home...

The book I bought was reasonably priced and when it arrived it was in the 'Like New' condition specified in the listing. However, when I saw that the seller had not shipped the book after more than 15 days had passed since my order I felt I must write to say that I had actually placed an order with the seller and inquire when it planned to send the book. The brusque reply was that a tracking number was available, but no number HAD been created until I pointed out that I had placed the order.

    A Literal Taste of History

We loved watching the Public Television series "Downton Abbey". As a drama it held our interests throughout the series. But my thing is history; this time period is so fascinating, so many things were going on. Borders re-established, empires fell, or drastically reduced, and the world had to recover from the "Great War". It was a trying time. The cookbook is just excellent. Filled with pictures of the beloved caste members; the recipes are many and well detailed, as to provide an excellent experience to share a moment in time with some of our great grand parents, uncles, cousins within one of most exciting periods of modern history.

  • Enjoyable for reading and cooking

Downton Abbey fans would like this book of recipes featuring many UK specialties. There are photos from the series as well. I do cook but I really love to read cookbooks. This one so gar is one of my favourites. It was in good condition. There was a bit of damage to the spine but that doesn’t cause any problem.
