    Cat loves it

    Fountain works good and the cat loves it. The cat now doesn't try to drink out of the faucet as much when we are doing dishes, etc... It does require some regular cleaning, as it starts to feel slimy after a few weeks, but nothing different than a regular water bowl does. They recommend cleaning I believe every few days, but I go a few weeks between cleanings. I give it a quick rinse and wipe down to get rid of the slimy feeling surfaces, rinse or replace the charcoal filter (found knock off online for much cheaper than the Drinkwell OEM filter), then refill. I spend about 5 minutes cleaning every few weeks.

    CONTAMINATES THE WATER!!

    This item is terrible because it contaminates and makes the water smell really bad. I've put 4 gallons of water through it so far and after an hour of running, you can take the water out and smell it it smells like motor oil. I definitely don't recommend using this especially if it makes you force the cats to drinking it because they will drink it eventually but it is contaminated! I believe the smell is coming from the motor or the carbon filter either case it stinks and gave my cat diarrhea..

    A good investment!

    If you are looking for a fountain for your pet, this is the one! I have multiple cats, and they love this fountain! They all took to it very quickly. It was easy to set up and is easy to maintain. I like that it has a control for the water flow, so I can slow it down or have it a little faster at times. There is some sound to it, but it is basically like having the sound of a decorative fountain. It takes very little space, and it looks far more attractive than the bowls I was using. I highly recommend this product.

    The Best and Healthiest Way to have Fresh Water Available for Your Pets.

    I have many dogs and cats. Before Drinkwell, it was so hard to have constant clean water available all the time. The dogs and cats did not drink as often because the water was not as fresh. I tried different fountains including the Big Dog one because of volume. But because the cats left hairs from their tongues deposited in the water, it was not clean for the others. Once I started using the Platinum, everyone drank more often and much more. And because the Platinum has the filter trap, it stays cleaner longer. I have more than one so I can immediately set up the spare when I dismantle the other for cleaning. And I bought extra reservoirs from Petmate so I can have them filled and ready to replace the ones empty. I LOVE IT~
