William Gibsons vision, shared with us in all his books, comes thru very vividly in his descriptions of life on "The Bridge". a piece of throw away landscape, cobbled together by misfits and criminals, out of the refuse at hand, on what is left of the golden gate bridge. Possibly my favorite is Yamazaki, a character, who is in america on the bridge studying the phenomena of rube goldberg devices and unique social manifestations that come from living on well on a bridge. at once a bleak mystery quasi spy story where locals get embroiled in international plots and a very cute opposites attract love story, Virtual Light is a great start to a three book series, which goes on to include, Idoru, and All Tomorrows Parties. if you enjoy gritty descriptions and fast action in a bladerunner-esq backdrop, then this writer is for you.Read full review
