American Engineering AT IT'S BEST
The early postwar Lionel Locomotives are my favorite. They are solid as a rock and well engineered. Some would say over-engineered. Most are still running today. Can we say that about Korean and Chinese manufactured toys made today ! This Steam Engine has a die cast body, die cast trailing truck, Nickel rimmed, highly detailed Baldwin type driver wheels (Not Plastic), and full operating drive and valve link rods. The mechanical smoke unit is synchronized to the wheel rotation. Just a wonderfully designed toy. These early Lionel engines do not yet have Magnetraction, but that just means they run more prototypically. A little wheel spin as it starts pulling a heavy train load is just fun to watch. They are heavy enough to pull a decent consist of freight or passenger cars. Also, they are repairable. Parts are still available. Engine will not run. Sometimes will start and go 2 inches then it will stop lever in correct position

Lionel 2025 Postwar Locomotive and 2224W Whistle Tender
The Lionel 2025 is just the best running locomotive in the Postwar Lionel line. I tuned it up and turned in loose. It will now run for another 70 years, because that is what is in the design and manufacture. The tender was a surprise. It was a 2224W that worked. All I did was clean it up, lube it, do the springs and brushes; and wow! It is loud and just great for my Prewar Lionel engines. Again, the engineering, design and manufacturing of this era model train is vastly superior to anything made today.

IT DOES WHAT THE AD SAYS!
