The sweet point of the Ryzen range and will play a good smooth game with optimised memory speed and timings. I used 3D Mark Vantage to setup and bench these values as it is a CPU heavy gaming benchmark. It's no Intel beater and comparable to an i5 Haswell K series when overclocking from a gaming perspective but it is fast for video editing and much cheaper than the equivalent Intel of same performance for this job. The 1600 is a genuine all rounder and the most average CPU money could buy at the end of 2017 for £180 odd notes. It is the Ford Focus 1.6 of CPU's, performs ok everywhere but won't blow your socks off anywhere. If you are building a gaming rig you could do worst but you could also do better for the same cash. A second hand i5 K series and board from Haswell through to Kaby Lake or even the much cheaper (if you get a deal) i3 7350K might be the better buy. Also the new Coffee Lake i3 8350K is a bit cheaper and would be far far superior for games and possibly not that far behind in any other areas. An entry level Z370 motherboard will cost more than an entry level B350 board for the AMD though. Your choice..Read full review

Not as quick as my last 6 core amd, socket am3+ @ 3.2 ghz, but uses less power, that's my main concern at mo, I've got more ram to counteract the lack of power, but everything's slower for certain.

Started with the R3 quad core and after OC it was up to 3.92Ghz and scored 577 with cinebench... ☺ i was so impressed that I then sold my R3 and gt a super deal of £150 on Ryzen 1600 ... whithout oc this chip scored 1008 points on Cinebench 😄 most popular games all playable in ultra settings. Great start for 2018..really happy with Ryzen 😆

I built myself my first Sleeper PC - didn't want anything too over the top so got an AMD 1600, it's fast, works well, got 6 Cores, works Happy with Windows 11, it's a great CPU for its age. Love it

What a performance boost over my FX 8350, great "bang for the buck" £70 pre-owned upgraded to a Ryzen 5 1600 6 core 12 thread and unlike the newer 3600 no bios issues, AMD have also left room for overclocking which is so easy.when mated with a MSI B350 Tomahawk mobo (£40). On the look out for a pre-owned 8 GB RX 570 to complete my latest build (£80) all for the price of a 3600.
