De Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk T10 WK518 is the latest of the Aviation 72 Chipmunk training aircraft dynasty to be released: It only came out ten days ago! This aircraft is still in use today with the Royal Air Force's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) operating from RAF Coningsby. The original build DHC-1 Chipmunk (this version) has a lineage which goes back to the days of training Supermarine Spitfire pilots for action during World War II hence the reason for the inclusion of two such Chipmunks in the BBMF inventory. Though this variant of the Chipmunk saw the most widespread use as the T10 trainer a second more powerfully engined DHC Chipmunk soon entered service and many of these still see civilian usage today as glider tug aircraft. Many former British Army / Royal Navy / RAF T10s have also been preserved as well represented by this excellent diecast metal 1/72 scale rendition of the aircraft from Aviation 72.Read full review
