BT3 Head Gasket Leak Test Kit

Handy little tester that works well and is economical on test fluid. Gives a fast diagnosis of co2 present in the cooling system on petrol and diesel engines due to combustion gas leaks. The downside for first time users is that no instructions are included with the tester, luckily we found it reasonably easy to figure out, also the tester comes without any kind of carry case which is not a problem but would have been a bonus. Overall I am happy with this kit but a little disappointed about the lack of instructions.

  • Most critical review

Very expensive tiny tester that doesn't work.

Sorry, but it does not work. The tube disconnect from the rubber all the time, I used it few times and the result was always blue and when I took to my mechanic which used the block tester in large version not this tiny one the result was yellow.

  • Very good but unfortunately confirmed my fears

Very simple piece of kit, that is easy to use. Doesn't look much for the money but does the job and can be used many times due to quantity or liquid provided. Put a few drops in one tube and put it in the hole of the expansion/header coolant tank. Start the engine and very slightly increase the revs for 4 minutes and then check it turned from blue to a very clear yellow.

  • Excellent test kit for cylinder head leak into coolant

I was losing half pint of coolant each week on my 2001 Honda Civic .No signs of water leak below car or in oil. But started seeing gas bubbles in open rad cap. Thought must be head leak causing back pressure into coolant system. Bought this version 3 leak test kit and so simple to use. Showed colour change and could see gas passing into tester from leaky head. Bought a Steel Seal additive and added to coolant....re tested with tester...problem solved...no more gas in rad cap and test liquid staying blue... Excellent fix for old car....leak test kit and Steel Seal additive...Cost in total £ 40....Better than a new head gasket and/or skimmed head..

  • Simple and effective

Dead easy to use and simple to see the output of the test. No guessing required. Took 5 minutes to diagnose a combustion leak. And there's enough fluid for multiple tests making it very cheap per test indeed.

  • Excellent product for testing cylinder head leaks

Great kit for checking for cylinder head gasket leaks. Been having a problem with hearing bubbling air in radiator expansion tank when engine shut off. This kit clearly showed the bubbling and the color changed from blue to yellow in less than 30 seconds.

  • Did not work

This company confirmed this product was exactly for my requirement ford focus1.6 tdci, water blowing out of header tank, i purchased the item tried it 4 times not the slightest change in color this indicated I did not have a blown head gasket, took it to garage head gasket was blown on two cylinders, waste of time effort and money, would have put no stars but it would not allow me to submit.
