The Edge touring is a great little unit with excellent mapping and just the basic features. No good for those Sagan Wannabees that want all the power, cadence and heart rate crap. If you're getting miffed about your phone app failing, get one of these, you can securely mount it in plain view, customise displays, have O.S. maps, use it as a satnav! The white casing is nice and you can get silicon skins in several different colours. There's an SD slot for mapping software but be careful, some models may have system files on the SD card, removing it may stop it booting up. Once you've registered it with Garmin connect on the PC, just attach it via the USB cable and any rides stored on the unit should automatically transfer into connect (and Strava if you've linked your account).

Tried this model out for 2 weeks. OK on roads but very unreliable anywhere else. Takes wrong turns, keeps saying make a u-turn. Definately poor software. Garmin site very unhelpful.

Great GPS cycle computer, easy to use, gives 3 routes to choose from and is suitable for MTB. It gives details on road surfaces your route takes and an elevation profile too! Altimeter and calorie burn, this may not be too accurate as body weight, speed and elevation gain do not seem to be factored in. Comprehensive mapping of Western Europe with downloadable maps at Garmin connect. 8GB SD card can be upgraded so you could have most of the world at your fingertips. Ideal for the serious cyclo tourist or MTB aficionado or the more adventurous Alaska to the Southern cape rider. 17 hour battery life which is ample for a days ride. Great overall product and simple to use.
