I was looking to upgrade my current HTC and fell in love with the HTC Desire X. The 4-inch LCD screen is nice and bright, and fairly sharp too with a resolution of 800x400 pixels. Unlike the One X you can remove the backplate to get at the battery and there's the option of adding up to 32GB of microSD card to augment the 4GB of memory already on board, of which you can only use about 1GB. As with other recent HTCs, you get the offer of 25GB of Dropbox cloud storage space. It's running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and also has the latest 4.1 version of HTC's Sense user interface, which is beautifully adaptable to the users desires. There's a dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon processor on board, backed by 768MB RAM, which isn't bad for this price range. Music and movie playback gets a bit of help from Beats Audio processing technology, which boosts your volume and your bass - fine if you like that sort of thing, but if you don't you can always disable it. The 5-megapixel camera is standard at this price point, but this one has a few extras borrowed from its more expensive brother. There's a BSI (Backside Illuminated) sensor that helps with low-light snaps as well as an f2.0 aperture, which should let in a bit more light. It has autofocus, as well as a burst mode which can take up to 30 quick-fire snaps in a row if you hold the shutter button down for long enough. And the features keep coming, with face detection and auto smile capture, plus HDR to help with high-contrast shots and a panorama mode. You can also take snaps while you're in the middle of filming video. With heavy use battery lasts a good day, which is exactly the right length of time for me. Out all day, return home at night put it on charge ready for the following day. It doesn't come with a load of unwanted apps that take up room, and with google play who needs it to be? Plus comes with features exclusive to HTC. For the price, it is a fabulous price, that rivals the iPhone 5 and a far nicer to the purse strings. HTC is providing excellent quality for money, and should be seriously considered by anyone seeking a new phone.Read full review
The phone is good and easy to use but will only run Android 4 (latest version is 7) so not all latest apps e.g. Fitbit will work on it. Facebook, email, iPlayer, etc. all OK though. Doesn't have a lot of built-in memory so you'll need 32GB SD card to go in it if you want to take photos, store music, etc and some apps won't work if installed on SD card, so some limitations but ultimately good value if you just want a basic smartphone with Internet

I bought this phone for my girlfriend because I'm currently using an HTC Desire S, which I'm happy with, and they are quite the same. She wasn't disappointed. It's very slim, has a big screen and it's good looking. Great for surfing the web and also you can take nice pictures with it. The only bad thing about it it's the battery life. But that's the problem with all the smartphones.
Purcahsed phone for my son so that he coudl 'upgrade' from the SE Xperia X10i he inherited from me when I last upgraded. He is very pleased with the phone, but same it did not have gorilla glass, but he found some screen protectors on Ebay that do a very similar job. The only down side is at HTC's level whereby he did they latest software upgrade and nwo finds the font smaller than before but with no flexiblilty to change the font size as you would on a Samsung. So go phone poor thinking by manufacturer who if they got there fingers out of their butts could be on a winner not only for this HTC but all HTC phones
The phone is a good phone and I have had more than one of these. Unfortunately twice now on 2 different phones the data won't connect and I can't get wifi. I was told by supplier to factory reset but this hasn't done anything. At 20 quid it was more important that I had a phone to be contacted on than being able to use the data and could not afford to be without one for as long as it would take for a replacement to be sent so was stuck between a rock and a hard place. I also ordered 2 with a £1 reduction but only received one and only gave me 50p reduction for the one I had which was faulty. It still wasn't terrible value but I won't be using that store again and if of probably felt far less done if they'd had just given the full pound reduction as requested.
