Great for dinner parties
I got a halogen oven for Xmas and wanted a book to show me how to get the best out of it. I was a tad disappointed in the content of this one though. I don't really want to know how to make : aubergines with Harissa dressing, or fish kebabs with garlic butter, goats cheese and mushroom pizza , red mullet with pomegranate or roasted beetroot couscous. I want to know how to bake, steam, boil, roast normal everyday food and not dinner party fare to impress people. There are a few 'basic' recipes in it, but on the whole, I'd say that this book is best for people who like to show off fancy recipes at dinner parties, and not those with families to feed on a budget. It has a few useable recipes for hungry families, but many more fancy crazy things.I'm afraid this one just tries to be too clever. ... The halogen oven recipes guide!
My wife and I have just bought our first halogen oven and the books should have made it easier to use. The recipes are poorly constructed and are not easy to follow, with colour photographs to illustrate. The halogen oven cooking is a whole new and healthy way to cook and the cookery book is not only way to go, it is only a guide as: - TIMINGS are out by a mile. POSITIONING too high and food burns. TEMPERATURE settings are mostly too high. DEFROSTING is uneven as parts are cooked and some are still frozen. Trial and Error is the only way and it works. New learning curve.
New appliance,so back to school. The book is informative and straight forward. It's an update to help those using halogen for the first time. Good value and a useful ally in the kitchen.

I have had Halogen ovens before and have always found them very easy to use and to keep clean. On top of this it is a huge saving on electricity when compared to conventional ovens. this has god to be good in todays financial climate. The price is very reasonable when you consider the potential saving in electricity
