I don't eat meat or poultry, and run a fair bit, so Italian style is pretty much my staple diet. There are maybe 25 recipes that include the above, but probably twice as many that don't. I'd promised myself 'Jamie's Italy' since I saw it on a friend's bookshelf. I prefer soft covers, to be honest, but this hardback was too cheap to ignore on eBay, and buying used is environmentally friendly. I like Jamie's no-nonsense and quick style, which seems to add flavour to otherwise bland foods, with an instinct to know what complements a simple meal. The book seems to be packed with recipes and ideas. The pictures tell stories of good food, good people met, and good times had... with maybe the exception of his broken down camper van, but even then with a helpful soul beneath it. Well worth a look, and is a good read even if you don't strike up the cooker. Ged WoodRead full review
