In one end of the Tension adjustment part there is a Fibre Brake Washer, the Other end has a Paint to Paint Surface that can alter and Make the Drag Irregular ,, But this is Easily Fixed by Inserting a Disc Cut from a Margarine Carton Lid in the Opposite end to the Fibre Disc , this stops the Paint from Breaking up and Jamming or making the Tilting Motion Uneven, I have 3 of these 234 units and doing this Fixed them all and Now they work Perfectly ,, So Don't be Afraid of getting one just because of this Minor ''Easily Fixable'' Problem,
So Get Out There and Take Pictures,!!

A good tilt head for a monopod - once I had figured out why the screw wouldn't go all the way into the camera!
A quick phone call to Manfrotto's technical people ( very helpful) alerted me to the fact that the plastic nut had been inserted upside down - took it apart as advised - reversed the 'nut' and bingo, it attached perfectly with correct length of screw thread . Very pleased with it so far.
On a monopod you only need tilt facility so this is just the job.
