This series was shelved by the BBC because of the Falklands war,and it was ten years before it was aired in any station. It is classic Frankie Howerd, but I can see why it remained unaired,as it was probably a dated kind of comedy even in the early nineties. Good to watch as Frankie is on form.

I simply love old style comedians, they seem to have better timing than the so called comics of today. I remembered this being on TV, albeit vaguely and thought I'd wallow in a bit of nostalgia. A lot of shows become somewhat dated but Frankie can make you forget the time lapse.
An attempt to revive the Up Pompeii formula but without the strong supporting cast or scripts . An older Frankie lacks the energy of Up pompeii or even Whoops Baghdad and the interplay with the audience that worked so well in those series , even though largely scripted , falls short here . But for people interested in the career of Frankie Howerd , it is worth getting . STEVE
