Synopsis
In Time, Unincorporated, the best essays and commentary from a range of Doctor Who fanzines are collected and here made available to a wider audience. In spirit, this series picks up the torch from Virgin's Licence Denied collection (1997), concentrating some of the most delightful, insightful and strange writings on Doctor Who into a single source. Volume 1 of this series collects 15 years of Doctor Who-related essays and articles by Lance Parkin, one of the highest-regarded Doctor Who novelists. The cornerstone of this edition is a year-by-year survey and analysis of Doctor Who that Parkin wrote for the 40th Anniversary of Doctor Who (updated to the present), as well as a myriad of Parkin's articles and columns from the fanzines Enlightenment and Matrix. Also included: Parkin's original pitch for the celebrated Doctor Who novel The Infinity Doctors (1998), his extensive advice on the art of writing and more., From the earliest days of fandom, through "The Wilderness Years" of the 90s and up through the resurgence of the new series in the present day, fanzines have yielded some of the most delightful, insightful and unique writings about Doctor Who. Well and truly made by fans and for fans, many of these publications were circulated exclusively at conventions and pub get-togethers, at times reaching a limited readership in the hundreds or mere dozens. Now, through the multi-volume Time, Unincorporated series, selected treasures from this vast fanzine resource are collected and made available for the first time to a wider audience. This debut volume of Time, Unincorporated collects fifteen years of fanzine writings by esteemed Doctor Who author Lance Parkin (The Eyeless, The Gallifrey Chronicles, AHistory). The cornerstone of this edition is a year-by-year survey and analysis of Doctor Who that Parkin wrote for the 40th Anniversary of the series (updated to the current day) as well as a wide array of his articles from Matrix and columns from Enlightenment. Also included: Parkin's original pitches for his novels The Infinity Doctors (1998) and Warlords of Utopia (2004), extensive advice on the art of writing and much more. Book jacket.
