This book is superb, it exposes how corporate greed, facilitated by government failings at best has lead to an obesity epidemic. More importantly there are superb recommendations to help reverse the effects of the Western diet on our ever expanding waistlines. This particular book was the first one I've read which advocates a low-carb approach to 'dieting', although I prefer to label it a 'life choice'. I have gone on the read further books on the subject, however 'Why we get fat' started me on the road to losing 40lbs to date and counting. I now know what to eat and more importantly what to try to avoid. Anyone who has struggled yo-yo dieting must read this book, it could save your life!

This book puts right the mis-information we've been fed for decades . I've followed the advice in it, for only a few weeks, & I've already lost 6 kgs My Blood Sugar levels are stable, & as a type 2 diabetic, that means so much to me. I'm getting on for 80 & never take any medication, & I don't want to start.. I was so pleased to read & dispel the Myth of " Calories In calories out " as I eat such a tiny amount, & my Sister eats lot's, & still weighs 7st 3. So thank you Gary Taubes, for all the honest advice in this book, I am now going to search out more of the ones you've written, as i can't get enough of the " Truth " I'm no longer happy to be mislead by the mainstream beliefs .I'll be back to review those later.
