i bought this camera as an up grade to my alpha 100. i'm very pleased with the results and picture quality is great. pros: tilting live screen is very useful for macro and low to the ground work picture quality slightly smaller and lighter body than many others can use pro duo and sd cards cons: tilting screen very easy to scratch...i would recommened a clip on protective screen off ebay(about £6) not as user friendly as the a100, but doesn't take long to get to know the camera battery too small
The camera had everything I wanted from a camera. Looks good and feels good. I love how easy it is to use. I get some fantastic shots from it. It's so good I bought a spare.
Very happy with this camera, very clean for a used item.

Great DSLR - menu system has a help feature incorporated to help understand settings like Shutter Speed, ISO, Aperture showing how each setting effects the final picture. Once you are familiar with these settings the help feature can be switched off. I have only had the camera 1 week, but I'm already confident that this is a great camera worthy of a good review. It was a natural upgrade for me since I used a Sony bridge camera before. Although Sony are new to DSLR market, there cameras are compatable with old Minolta lens because Sony bought them out sometime ago. It is also well known that Sony have been building the Sensors for some Nikon DSLR cameras, so although a new line for themselves the experience is already on a firm foundation. The camera kit lens (18-55mm) does produce very slight soft pics but after very fine sharpen in Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop the pics are very good. This is something I beleave Sony may even refine in a future firmware upgrade.- I do mean VERY slight when I write this definately not a problem for final prints. I have now been shopping on ebay for more lens to cover the zoom 55-200mm (remeber this camera is APS-C, so crop factor takes this lens to equivelant of 300mm) and found some great deals on second hand nearly new lens, so the lens availability is good. The camera isn't to big in its dimensions I'd say it little smaller than I expected, but I havent had pleasure of holding a great deal of SLR's. The battery is good for about 300 shots. It also has live view not found on all DSLR, and another neat thing it has a dual memory card slot it takes 2 cards - 1 x Sony Memory Stick and 1 x SD card. (advantage with SD is there very cheap and east to come by.) Main thing is it produces fantastic pictures... (some I have shot this week) http://www.flickr.com/photos/russell_lees/ Drop wee message is need anything else covered.Read full review
This camera seems to have all the options I've needed. But let's start from begin. I'm just an amateur, and this is my first SLR camera (I've used comapcts for several years, and finally decided to step up to the higher level). Before I've bought it, I've read many reviews, and most of them have scored it well. In fact, all things wchich have been typed as an disadventages wasnt important for me. I don't need an option to record the movies, in my opinion you can get video camera to do that. Next thing will be ISO. For me everything is fine, didnt use the 3200 yet, but with ISO 1600 A380 is working very well, and the pictures are still perfect (of course you need to work a bit on all the preferences, but when you get used to it, its even quite easy and fast). Live view is working perfectly, same like LCD screen. To asume, for a beginner like me, this camera is just perfect. My target was to get A550, but it cost nearly twice that much, so if you dont need a semi-pro camera, but something to enjoy on a daily basis A380 will deffinetly be a very good choice. camera is excellent, the camera company i bought the camrea were very helpfull in providing infomation and helping with promblems. The camera and lens are excellent love the camera works very well after my daughter showed me how to use it. I had a Minolta 7000 SLR so digital was new to me the quality of pictures are outstanding I choese this camera because my minolta lens fitted my new sony camera as described so the camera work fine but putting the new 18-55mm lens on my old minolta camera will not focus anyway i'm very pleased happy nowing i can take great photo's.
