  • Mod 54

A good innovation, but has its limitations. Loading is a pain and every time I use it at least one sheet comes adrift, however I'm glad people are still innovating around analogue photography and will continue to support those who do.

  • Great idea

This is the best idea yet for a daylight processing tank for developing 4x5 sheet film. Easy to load. I was familiar with the Nikor stainless steel one, but it was very hard to load. This is the best one by far.

  • 5x4 film processing

anyone who has ever sweated over processing sheet film in deep tanks in total darkness will appreciate what an ingenious and convenient gizmo this is. Holding 6 sheets of 5x4 film and slipping easily into a Paterson 3-reel tank, once loaded all operations can be carried out in daylight with normal inversion agitation. It takes a little practise to load it quickly and the first time can be a bit nerve-wracking, not helped by the fact that the unit breaks down into four separate components which slot into each other and can occasionally fall apart during handling. All that is really needed is for one end to detach to allow film to be slotted into each receiver with minimal fingertip guidance. Happily, all components are rebated so they will only fit together one way! Obviously if you are a big 5x4 user and regularly have more that six frames to process, a deep tank may be the best option, but in my experience six frames would represent pretty much a full day's shoot!

  • Reasonably priced alternative to other 5 x 4 developing methods.

With practice it functions as expected but difficult to use in a changing bag. better to load film in changing tent or dark room.

  • 5x4 processor film holder kit.

A well designed 5x4 negative processor. With practice and patience it becomes a natural, loading by touch piece of kit which does the job well with perfect results.

  • MOD54 5x4 Film Processing Reel

The reel works very well for me. I do find it difficult to load the film on to the reel however I am sure that I will get better at it with practice. I am an amateur photographer. It does seem to be a tad expensive but it does the trick and is a robust piece of kit.
