Donor to repair existing CD drive, to avoid ban from Xbox live
It's not possible from what I've researched to fit differing CD Drives to Xbox 360 without getting blacklisted, the hardware change is flagged by Xbox Live and prevents updates. Apparently a console can become banned from Xbox live with hardware changes or unauthorised repairs, mine was already factory reset with no credentials entered, and hadn't been connected to the internet for some time. The downloaded updates wouldn't apply and gave me an error code. I was able with this drive to strip it down and repair my existing CD drive with the new parts, with the original drive repaired, to enable my Xbox to use Xbox live.
