Decent beginner machine. Wished it had a few extra features.

Runs smoothly. Bobbin is easy to thread and drops into the machine. It's easy to thread through the machine, although the needle threader doesn't thread easily. I also don't like that the needle has to be manually dropped or that there is no speed options. The pedal isn't touchy so the speed doesn't randomly speed up but I like to have a speed option. I needed a machine to replace my Janome that was in for repair so I purchased this one since it wasn't too expensive.

    Missing things I expected

I expected at least a needle possitioning button. Nope. From several other photos, there appeared to be a "cutting thread" button. Nope. This Brother has the exact same "needle threading" disaster as my Brother that finally broke down due to the "needle threading" unit falling apart. I'm not happy with this purchase, but stuck with it. I cannot afford anything else. One bright spot is the newer LED lighting if much brighter than my older Brother that is now brokwn.

  • Lightweight with great features

I have only had this since Christmas but I am very pleased with it so far. It is very easy to use. The stitch selection is great. The computer tells you what foot to use to make the best stitch. The presser feet are easy to change. The bobbin is easy to fill and load. I like to be able to see the bobbin so you can know if you are getting close to running out. It has clearly marked sewing guide lines. The stitches are very balanced. I have not found anything that I don't like about this machine. I wore my other sewing machine (different brand) completely out and am looking forward to putting some mileage on this one, too!

  • Brother machine is inexpensive, simple to learn using and sews evenly! Easy to transport.

Over the years it has been a a test for multiple machines. Raising a large family, then teaching them to sew over the years. In 4 H all did have their products graded by experts. If a 9 year old can have simple instruction and sew alone it proves to me this is a good product and not difficult to use. This machine is my second Brother. Highly recommend them! Sue

  • Good machine!

I like this machine. I needed a new one, finally found one here on eBay. It was to get use to, the sewing needle starts to the left side, that was something I haven’t see before. Plus using the needle threader is hard to do at times. But overall, I’m getting used to it. Great buy!

  • Brother sewing machine

Yes, I enjoy using my sewing machine but haven’t had to much time to sit down and use it all the way, I have been cutting out material mostly but have used the machine and works great.

  • accurate

Good It's light, the instructions are comprehensible, it responds well and is smooth. It's my first experience with a computerized machine and I have not sewn in years so it turned out to be less intimidating than I thought it would be. It is just the right machine for me to get back into to sewing with. I am very happy with it. Not so good, Only a couple things really; the threader is not worth the time, it is faster to thread the needle myself, it seems well thought out but it is to flimsily put together. The other thing is that, unless I haven't figured this out yet, the stitch you happen to be using doesn't save if you turn off the machine, it resets every time you turn it back on. This is a bit frustrating if you are in the middle of something and have to keep resetting your stitch.
