OK, this element did the job perfectly, it fixed my aged but trusty Antex XS25, but there's a couple of caveats. Firstly, as pointed out elsewhere, you will need another soldering iron to fix your soldering iron. Once you're over that hurdle there could be another one. I found that on the black plastic part of the elements body there were 4 lugs that form a cross, 3 in line with the connections and one other. These locate with another part the fixing screw locks into. The 4th lug on the element (the one not in line with the connections) is slightly taller than the others and is no doubt intended to locate in a matching slot in the iron's yellow plastic handle to help you line up the other part with fixing screw. But my iron is probably a very early model before this "improvment" was made. This extra tall lug stopped the element fitting into the handle, there was no internal slot moulded into the handle. Solution: carefully sand off the surplus height with a Dremel until it's flush, or attack it gently with a file to do the same. The element will now slide easily into the handle. Happy soldering!Read full review
