Genuine TDK Motor as per original.

My machine was starting to smell of burning with a popping and crackling noise. Motor took around 1.5 hours to fit on a DC07, not too difficult if you are reasonably handy. Requires a long torque type screw driver to remove casing screws which are deep. There are a few good YouTube videos out there on this, well worth the time and effort. The machine runs well and smells much better with the new motor. Much cheaper than an engineer or a new Dyson!

    Very, very noisy motor.

Kind-of between a rock and a hard place, as these replacement motors are all the same, so if you don't like the loud noise and high pitched whistle, then you don't get your vacuum cleaner repaired. But then again, they are really cheap, so it has to be expected. I would pay twice the price for a motor that was 1000 - 1200 watts, and was quieter. I have fitted several of these MT299 motors to different cleaners, and all have been unbearably loud in use. One even failed (burnt out) after a very short amount of use, but as before, it seems to be the price I have to pay for keeping my old stock of vacuum cleaners alive.

  • DC07 now fixed and working again!

Ah, that terrible smell of burning and the noise like a helicopter...yes, Rex (the Sugababes of Dyson DC07s) had motor problems. Despite the best efforts of Him Indoors to persuade me it was time to buy a new one, I found this replacement on ebay and for the money, reckoned it was worth a gamble (buoyed up by reassurances from the guys in the electronics workshop at work that they'd bail me out if I messed it up...) But hey! I did it. There are some great video and pictorial guides out there (thank you, espares, thank you dysonmedic) with step by step guides to dismantling and remantling your machine. Don't forget to buy a couple of longish Torx screwdrivers too.The whole process took me just over 2 hours - would have been quicker but I stupidly missed the 5th screw and spent ages wobbling the casing around despite being stuck fast. Doh! And my switch was a bit tricksy to remove and reassemble - there's a fine line between sufficient force and 12-year-old brittle plastic tabs snapping off but there weren't any major casualties. The new motor is so much smoother and less noisy - would highly recommend this item!

  • This motor fits like a glove with the Dyson DC07

Bought this motor for my DC07 due to the old one loosing most of it's suction. With the right tools , I was able to switch the motor in less than an hour and gave it a quick test. I also bought replacement filters from the same company and the vac is near enough as powerful as the first day I got it. Would suggest ensuring that you do have the right tools for the job or it can take a lot longer.

  • A Dream to Install

There are plenty of You Tube videos that you can watch to do this job. The hardest part is the dismantling of the machine, especially the brush roller and housing. It is advisable to purchase a brush belt removal tool to assist. Once you have the strip down complete the motor in its casing can finally be opened to remove the motor and rubber mounts. A relatively simply task and there is sufficient cable length within the housing that you do not need to strip out the machine on/off switch or cable from the lower handle assembly. Once the end cap of the motor housing is removed, tap the belt shaft end of the motor with a stout hammer to ease the extraction of the motor in its rubber shock mounting. Best to clean the housing and rubber mounting with a damp cloth before reassembly. When reconnecting the wiring connect motor red wire to machine brown wire and black to blue. Reassembly was straitforward the motor slid into the housing very easily end from there it was a straight forward task to rebuild the Dyson. An excellent product.

  • Good price and quick delivery.

Good replacement motor. Be careful when you try to get the motor into the housing it has a sharp edge in the hole in the middle which will cut your fingers. Do watch videos on how to replace the motor it helps, also take a photo of how the wires fit in the switch housing before you take them out.

  • New motor for my Dyson DC 07

saw this item on ebay after my motor failed on my aged dyson dc07, didnt want to put it in the bin so I bought this new motor, fits like a glove, managed to watch a video on youtube of how to change a dyson motor and followed it with no great problems, the new motor fitted well, and worked first time, so now I have a new dyson dc07 which should last many more years. Thanks very much folks.

  • Dyson motor

Bought the motor after reading good reviews and really at the price if it last 6 months it's paid for itself ,I stripped the hoover in about 15 mins (a long torx t15 is needed for a couple of screws ) and was into the motor housing it's a simple 2 plug connection then put it back together and it's as good as new , yI don't think the motors are as quiet as dysons but my bearing was shot so much quieter with new one installed and better suction than it was before 👍

  • Great Value, Great Quality

The quality of build is as good the Dyson original part, the dimensions are precisely the same and it fits like a glove into the Dyson casing. It runs cool during prolonged operation and has a flow rate and suction comparable with the original. It is not marked 'YDK' as the original is. I fully expect this motor will last as long as the original and since it is about 1/3 the price, it offers great value.
