Intrguing drama that deeply questions American values and conventional morality
When life expectancy is short a sick teacher challenges conventional morality and forms an unlikely liaison with a small time drug addict and dealer.He uses his knowledge of chemistry to "cook" high quality meths and finds the associated buzz increases his vitality and he he evolves into a new man. This despite his moves into criminality and murder in order to achieve his ends and to pay for expensive treatment for his cancer. The script writer gives him a disabled son and an adoring wife. In addition he is related to a small town police chief who ironically is on a missson to stamp out drug dealers and drug users. We see the emergence of a powerful criminal from a middle class American background that is frequently and amusingly satirised as the series progresses. It seems that the American Dream is not what is seems and we witness a fascinating creation of a man we may admire and despise at the same time.
