Maximum aperture is a constant F4, and the physical length of the lens does not change when zooming or focusing. Dual linear motors ensure fast, precise focusing. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization is built in.
The Sony E70-200mm f4 G OSS FE Lens sits in the FE range and is designed exclusively for Sony’s E-mount cameras to feature a full-frame sensor, such as the A7 and A7R. The SonyE70-200mm telephoto lens offers a wide f4.0 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range and is ideal for sports, wildlife, portraiture and travel. Optically, the lens features advanced aspherical elements, ED glass elements and Nano AR coating to ensure minimal flare and ghosting for maximum contrast.
I've been happily surprised at just how good this lens is. It's superbly made, its very durable and has so far produced fantastic images. The focus is easy to use in both auto and manual modes and the zoom is steady.
Having migrated from Canon to Sony I was suprised by this little gem of a lens. It's extremely sharp, very lightwheight and overall a great lens. Suprisingly smooth bokeh for being only f4 as well.
Only downside I guess is the lack of Arca-Swiss rails on the tripodmount but... that's easily fixed!
What a great bargain amongst all the overpriced Sony products now appearing, particularly under the
GM label, this just puts you off buying Sony products. This 70-200 was purchased by me from
Kachashop in Japan, and what a great company for firstly a bargain (Approx.£750 for this lens)
Arrived in about a week with no extra charges for duties etc.
Having used this lens on a Sony A7 and now the A7Rii I have take some great shots that are really
sharp and with great bokeh.
Fantastic lens. At f4 it's not what you'd call fast, but still plenty of bokeh for portraits, flowers etc. Very sharp, quick focus, solid build. The hood is too fragile, though: Cracked easily.
