Very easy to use. Good shape body making it easy to grip. It has both a LCD Display screen and a view finder which is very useful in bright sunshine. This camera is equipped with the 4x optical zoom lens, which covers a 35mm film equivalent focal length ranging from 35 mm (Wide Angle) to 140 mm (Telephoto).
Very easy to use plus it's nice and compact and batteries cheap to replace.

the camera is old by today's standards. primarily because it is only 5mp. yet having various cameras with 12mp and such with films, i'd have to say that this canon model is quite suitable for non hi-def activities. if you're not going to print large pictures, 5mp is sufficient. and the camera offers all the gizmos to make decent pictures. in addition one can install chdk and do some more advanced operations.
Bought this camera off Ebay and have to say what an absolute bargain I got. I already have a canon Powershot compact camera and love it , so I decided to have a backup, No chance of that , my daughter saw how good the pictures were I took and she claimed it, even though I bought her a £600 Canon dslr. Testament to how good this little gem is.

I already have one of these . I decided to upgrade but that means up to £300 spend to match useability and quality. Instead I went for a back-up against the day when my original fails. The A530 does everything, only 5mp but so what? The rest of the technology in there is all anyone needs except a papparazi. The bundled software is brilliant and this camera has a good VIEWFINDER. Indespensible. Just look through one of your old SLRs, viewfinders are being designed out because of cost and buyers accept it. The A530 is now out of production so buying an unused one at auction prices gets you a fab camera cheaper than a run of the mill slimine pink thing that has to be held at arms length to take what will turn out to be SNAPSHOT! I,m a bloke and I dont mind something slightly more than slimline, it does make the camera easier to control and manipulate. You will have to learn battery management though. The camera doesnt have high consumption but you will probably end up using rechargeables and its the batteries that need managing. And possibly best of all, this camera has CANON stamped on it!Read full review
I bought this product as a spare camera mainly for digiscoping, since my previous compact was hopeless for this task. This camera is good for digiscoping, partly because the lens is small enough to fit inside the eyepiece of the spotting scope and allowing a small amount of misalignment. It appears to work very well for the task, small and light, ideal when you have to carry a large spotting scope and tripod, often over muddy ground. It also has a useful macro function, so again suitable subjects can be handled, without the need for an additional camera. My only criticism is the small LCD, which can make focusing a bit hit and miss - though, yet again, autofocus appears to work adequately well for this purpose. It's quite fast 2 shots/second multi-shot capability and 30 fps video function are useful for digiscoping, too. Using NImH AA size batteries, it will take hundreds of photos, and copes with being powered for long periods well; also easy to carry spare batteries, either rechargeable or alkaline. This model is cheap enough s/hand now that - as I have done - it's easily affordable to have two, so as to have a spare, not a bad idea, given that digiscoping isn't the safest use for a camera!Read full review
