You can't go wrong with a Weller, lightweight, heats up quick and very affordable.
I have owned a Weller-8200PKS-140-100-Watt Soldering-Gun for years and it worked well for soldering wires and other small jobs. Recently I started rebuilding battery packs for cordless tools and I found I needed something with more heat and quicker. The only soldering gun I looked at was the Weller D550PK with 260/200 Watts. It's a bit heaver then the 8200PKS, however the D550PK heats up so fast you are not holding it long. I would recommend Weller to anyone needing a soldering gun, you just need to deuterium your needs.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best gun made except for lights
I bought this one to replace one that "grew feet and walked away". I had my other one since 1969. The new one heated fine,but lights would not burn.I called Weller and they sent me another one,the lights quit the first time I used it! I again called Weller and they replaced it.So far so good. On my first one I only replaced the bulbs one time!The new ones are made in Mexico and they have changed the bulb holder design.That is the problem.Their people here were ignored when making the problem KNOWN. Much faster to working temp than my 550!

Gun works, not lights.
The solder gun seems to work, but neither of the lights worked out of the box. I thought maybe they just came loose in shipping, but when you try to turn the bulbs the entire bulb housing turns. Neither light will work.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
