About this product

Product Information

A personal and powerful essay from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the bestselling author of Americanah' and 'Half of a Yellow Sun', based on her 2013 TEDx Talk of the same name. 'I would like to ask that we begin to dream about and plan for a different world. A fairer world. A world of happier men and happier women who are truer to themselves. And this is how to start: we must raise our daughters differently. We must also raise our sons differently...' What does feminism mean today? In this personal, eloquently argued essay - adapted from her much-admired Tedx talk of the same name - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie offers readers a unique definition of feminism for the twenty-first century, one rooted in inclusion and awareness. Drawing extensively on her own experiences and her deep understanding of the often masked realities of sexual politics, here is one remarkable author's exploration of what it means to be a woman now - an of-the-moment rallying cry for why we should all be feminists.

  • A Quick and interesting read

A quick and interesting read. Chimamanda's writing drew me in as usual. She's one of my favourite authors. This little book highlights the challenges faced by all women, but in particular African women, in male dominated societies. She has an approach to Feminism based on Common Sense which is appealing and not as ambigious or unforgiving as the New Wave of Feminists. An essay that those of us who enjoy flirtation and high heels but want to be taken seriously in our careers and day to day lives can relate to. Okay, I'm not very eloquent or good at putting my point across despite the gazillion books I 've read but you get my point, it's worth reading and approaches the subject of Feminism without alienating anyone.
