  • Late diagnosis and long term distress

Having received a very late diagnosis and suffered from years of mistreatment by community mental health teams this book has validated how i feel and in turn helped me realise i am not awkward and lacking effort. The book has explained in depth the experiences which are individual to each person and although i still feel great distress and a feeling of being lost i now understand why this is happening. I wish community mental health staff informed themselves as in wales (Ceredigion) the professionals lack of basic knowledge badly lets down people with an autistm diagnosis and fails to identify those people with mental health problems whos underlying problem is often left undiagnosed leading to mistreatment and years of misery. The book is great and it really is not rocket science. My experience is that mental health staff are probably too lazy to read at least in mid wales that appears the case. Good book.
