Jerry Goldsmith's Early Musical Score at 20th Century Fox
Jerry Goldsmith was one of Hollywood's most sought after film composers of his time. He worked at 20th Century Fox and was highly recommended by the famous Alfred Newman who was then the head of Fox's music department..
Damnation Alley was one of his early works. When I went to see the film his credits were displayed on the screen during the main tile of the film and to my surprise, many in the audience at Century City, CA applauded.
Music from film scores is not to everyone tastes. They described the scene or the mood or both. Damnation Alley tells the story of a small group of survivors of a nuclear war travelling through a "safe zone'"across the US or "Damnation Alley."
