Great Valve for the price...
I purchased this after my neighbors house and my brother house both had water leak issues - simple as a toilet supply line nylon nut cracking and then disaster - if not home = flooded house... My brother came home from a weekend getaway to water running out of his garage. Whole house was flooded - cost him thousands. I was told Gen 1 valve and Gen 2 are virtually the same - the main difference is in the Gen 2 leak sensor not the valve. I bought valve without sensor for descent price - tested connection in the spot I would be installing - went through simple Wink setup and it connected quickly - within a minute. "GREAT" installed myself and so far have 3 Iris (from Lowes) leak sensors working perfectly. There are many different choices for leak sensors that will work with Wink hub. I have done a few different tests with each sensor by putting them in a little water or wetting a finger and putting across probes. All worked great. I turn on a faucet and activate a sensor - within 9-10 seconds or less the faucet shuts off. All in all I am very happy with this LeakSmart valve and hope I never have to use it, but I now have better peace of mind over a possible disaster happening. I am going to eventually add leaks sensors anywhere there is in coming water as $ will allow... LeakSmart has a hub as well as others that may work - I just have been using Wink for years.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great valve,glitchy sensors
Installed two- one for myself,one for my friend. My sensor has failed ( goes offline, irrational behavior). Manufacturer acted professionally,replaced sensor with version 2 at no cost. Now my friend is reporting the same issue. Will call for replacement. Hopefully version 2 is stable. Better price on a sensor would be helpful as well. $68 is not competitive. I live in a townhouse with a slab foundation and a 2nd floor water heater. Needless to say, any water leaks would be a disaster. The leakSmart valve was easy to install on my main water line (3/4 CPVC) and it paired quickly with my SmartThings hub. I have leak sensors (one is included with the valve) in the water heater drip pan, behind the washing machine and under the sink.
