Great router, in every way, lacks a few things which other routers have, but still one of the best
I purchased this router after being so fed up with my current 4g router, which kept going to sleep and cutting out. After reading reports about this HUAWEI E5186 router, I thought this is defonately the best one for reliablity, as I needed a constant 4g signal day and night for a radio station. Very easy to set up, and really good looking and solid, with 4 ethernet sockets too, and a really solid looking power pack. It has not cut out on me once since I received it a week ago, and that is the most important part, it even works, when tested, in a deliberate set up poor signal condition such as a wardrobe etc etc. There are a few things sadly lacking, which my old router DID have. 1. Whilst the status tab on the router shows all WIFI connections, it does not show any of the ethernet connections (direct to it), which can be annoying, eg direct wired items. 2. My old router had a scheduled REBOOT facility, ie. i coudl set it to auto reboot (fresh) at for example 4am in the morning, sadly this router does not have. 3. My old router allowed logging in from one of several sources, this Huawei router will not. So if a colleague logs in from one location, and forgets to log out (always the way), then it is impossible for me to log in. This is really annoying and i hope they sort this on the next firmware update. OTHER THAN THAT, this router is amazing, has performed perfect for a week, and no drop outs at all, unlike all my previous 4g routers. Big, Chunky and Works
Say's it all really, it's not one of your minuture pocket Huawei's, it is just a very good NAT router, with dual band Wi-Fi (2.4G & 5G) and the ability to provide a fast internet connection when using an external modem on an existing network, or better still a fast 4G connection using the 4G mobile phone service where no line connection exists. It does not provide any form of load balancing between sources, that would be asking a lot for the money, however you can manually switch between souces. The configure interface allows most of the usual router featues, like port triggering, DMZ and blocking to be user setup. Gripes: One mainly WHY use a micro SIM in such a large box, a standard mini-SIM would be more convenient for anyone moving over from a pocket wi-fi unit. Someone mentioned the power unit (12V) yes, this might be a two pin EU standard, so need an adaptor for use in the U.K, better still get a better quality higher power unit if the router is to be run 24 hours.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Yes it's 2.4 and 5Ghz WiFi, no its not 5th generation (5G) Cellular. It works well and the most important thing for me is that it remains active constantly - 24/7 some cheaper routers have a tendency to drop out after a day or two if the connection is not kept active. It's in use on EE although it will function on any UK and possibly most international networks (with exceptions) It's neat with only one issue I can see, that being the cable on the power adapter is a bit on the short side, wouldn't it be nice if all power adapters came with a "standard" 2 or 3 meter cable. Other than that its a good choice with plenty of connectivity, just keep a look out for software updates from Huawei to make a good product even better.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Broadband mobile router
In terms of broadband this has got to be the best thing I ever bought. I live in a remote area with little coverage and have even had trouble with fibre to the cabinet since the route from the cabinet is wet string.
