Much better than JW's 1st season
As with all seasons of DW, some of the writing is absolutely woeful; plot holes, things that don't make sense, and thin characterisations for the 3 companions. That being said, most of the episodes are at least engaging, they mostly romp forward at a good rate, and some work really well. And JW has improved enormously in the role from the few episodes I saw of her debut season, where she seemed to spend all her time panting and screwing her face up. In fact, on this season alone, she is my 2nd favourite New Who Doctor. (Though admittedly, the competition here is weak anyway - again, awful writing has scuppered most of the New Doctors).
