Inexpensive, Easy-to-Use Doppler Radar Sensor.
This is an inexpensive, easy-to-use Doppler radar sensor. Two unique features: 1) The analog output is DC-coupled, which means that you can use this to provide absolute position-sensing. While most folks will simply AC-couple and amplify to detect motion, the option for absolute sensing is there. 2) The output voltage is about 50mV below (i.e. lower than) GND. Just use a resistive voltage divider to +5V to bring it slightly above GND and use a single-supply opamp to amplify the signal. For AC Doppler sensing, just place a capacitor in series with your amplifier, and you're fine.
It draws about 40mA at 5V, and the Doppler sensing range is about 3m or so with a roughly hemispherical antenna pattern - great for a bedroom (or bathroom) intrusion sensor.
